Please note that this bidirectional driver is compatible with all Axiohm’s mechanisms as long as driven by Axiohm’s latest generation of controller boards Compact II.
Bidirectional drivers are the next level in the evolution of thermal printer drivers and they represent a significant step towards satisfying customer’s demands for faultless printer management.
With Bi-Directional communication, a printer driver communicates with the printer through your network.
After an initial setup procedure, Bi-Directional communication automatically updates the printer driver with the printer’s installed options and reports specific information about the printer’s operational status: end of paper, door open, etc…

| REACH - New EU regulation |
April 2008 |
| |
REACH is the new EU regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. It entered into force on 1st June 2007 to streamline and improve the former legislative framework on chemicals of the European Union (EU). The main aims of REACH are to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, the promotion of alternative test methods, the free circulation of substances on the internal market and enhancing competitiveness and innovation.
REACH makes industry responsible for assessing and managing the risks posed by chemicals and providing appropriate safety information to their users.
The position of AXIOHM on REACH:
AXIOHM support the underlying goals of REACH, which are consistent with our own commitment to promote the responsible production, use and handling of the products we make. A key priority for AXIOHM at this point is to prepare for the implementation of REACH, both internally and externally. At this stage, we have arranged training sessions for some members of staff, a diagnostic made by an expert will follow and AXIOHM will undertake all appropriate actions to comply and meet the REACH legislation requirements before the deadline of 1 December 2010. This will include coordinating closely with our suppliers to gather all of the required information on the spare parts and products we buy.

| TUV Rheinland to certify Axiohm's product's safety |
April 2008 |
| |
Starting April 2008 Axiohm will be using the services of TÜV Rheinland of North America, to test and certify our products to both U.S and Canadian national standards. TÜV Rheinland of North America is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in the United States and accredited by the Standards Council of Canada. This organization specializes in documenting the safety of new and existing products. Therefore all Axiohm’s products shipped starting 14th April will feature the TUV US & Canada certification marking. Although the organization delivering safety certificates changes from UL to TUV, certifications remain the same (UL60950-1; CSA22.2 60950-1 and IEC60950-1). Clients can demonstrate compliance for both U.S. and Canadian markets through a single mark (cTUVus) on their product(s) which denotes compliance to U.S. and Canadian National Standards. We can of course provide our customers with certificates proving the conformity to the standards.

| ROHS compliance |
January 2007 |
| |
Axiohm’s entire range of products is fully compatible with the RoHS directive.
Although the 2002/95/EC Directive only required an auto declaration of compliance from the manufacturers, Axiohm wanted to provide its clients with even better warranties on RoHS compliance and is one of the rare manufacturers to have conducted chemical tests on its products through an external official laboratory, the INERIS (The French Industrial Environment and Risks Institute).
Test results attest to the compliance of all of our products to the RoHS law and can be downloaded by clicking here.
Axiohm even goes one step ahead by delivering a certificate of conformance to RoHS for each of its products on request. For more information or to receive a certificate, please contact your sales representative or email techsupport@axiohm.com

| WEEE Regulation |
January 2007 |
| |
The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) 2002/96/CE directive from the EU Parliament and Council requires producers* of electrical and electronic equipment to take responsibility for treating and recycling their products when they become waste. This includes the costs of appropriate treatment and meeting specific targets for recycling and recovery.
The Directive is retroactive and as a result, does not just apply to new products but to all products sold since 13th August 2005.
*Important note: The producer is clearly defined in the directive as the company which sells the products on the market under his brand name, whoever the manufacturer is (article 3 - I ). Therefore, the collect, treatment and recycling of mechanisms and kiosk printers are not under Axiohm's responsibility and only printers sold under Axiohm's name are to be taken in charge of.
Following the directive, all printers sold under Axiohm's name since 13th August 2005 are under Axiohm's responsability and all end of life products will have to be sent back to Axiohm's manufacture plant in Puiseaux -France for the recycling process to be taken care of.
For further information on the WEEE directive please click here
